Fender Center Guitar Classes
Youth Levels 1 through 4
This a first year course consisting of four sessions each spanning eight weeks. Lessons are taught once a week so that each session consists of eight lessons.
Course Description
This is a basic course designed to teach the fundamentals of guitar performance while also giving a basic study in beginning music theory. The goal is to provide a solid musical education with emphasis on guitar technique and performance. The materials for the class include the Hal Leonard Method, and Supplements consisting of original materials and arrangements.
Level 1
Prerequisite: None
Description: This is an eight-week beginning guitar course that is designed to give the student an understanding of basic guitar skills and technique as well as beginning music theory.
The course covers identifying the main parts of the guitar, reading notes on the first three strings, and playing basic chords to simple songs.
Level 2
Prerequisite: Completion of Level 1, or audition by an instructor.
Description: This is an eight-week beginning guitar course that continues where Level 1 ended. The course covers reading notes on the first four strings, strumming chords to songs, and technical development.
Level 3
Prerequisite: Completion of Level 2, or audition by an instructor.
Description: This is an eight-week beginning guitar course that continues where Level 2 ended. The course covers reading notes on the first five strings, performing more structurally complete songs, technical development, and bar chords.
Level 4
Prerequisite: Completion of Level 3, or audition by an instructor.
Description: This is an eight-week beginning guitar course that continues where Level 3 ended.
The course covers reading notes on all six strings, performing several popular songs in complete structure, reading chord charts using major and minor bar chords, and improvising leads over chord structures. |
