Course Description

This class is designed for students to learn the basics of electric bass guitar for performance in many different group situations.

The areas of study include:

• Reading notation
• Rhythm study
• Major and minor triads and applications
• Scale study
• Fret-board theory (recognizing notes and patterns on the fret-board)
• Developing bass lines to song charts
• Analysis of  recorded bass parts
• Playing in the “groove” as a bass player
• Traditional and non-traditional bass techniques
• Rock, standards, and Jazz styles are covered

Materials

Original Method book and materials, as well as a variety of published charts, song books, and audio are used in the class.
